Ten Premier League transfers to follow this summer

The rumour mill has been gathering pace over the past few days after the Premier League summer transfer window officially opened on June 14.

Numerous players have already been linked with big-money moves and many more will likely be the subject of speculation over the next couple of months.

With the transfer market now open for business, fans have been eagerly snapping up Premier League tickets in anticipation of seeing new players at their club next season.

Read on as we look at ten Premier League transfers to follow this summer, starting with one that could go down to Deadline Day.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool

Saudi Pro League (SPL) club Al-Ittihad are preparing another big money offer for Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah during the summer transfer window.

The SPL outfit was knocked back by the Reds last year, but they may feel they have a better chance of signing Salah as his current contract expires in June 2025.

Selling Salah for a bumper fee makes plenty of commercial sense and would give new manager Arne Slot the chance to revamp the squad to his own taste.

Julian Alvarez – Manchester City

Julian Alvarez has won plenty of silverware since joining Manchester City, but he has been unable to nail down a regular starting role due to the presence of Erling Braut Haaland.

While Man City would be reluctant to lose the 24-year-old, they may find it difficult to reject a sizeable offer if any of his suitors step up their interest.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have both been strongly linked with the World Cup winner and would be excellent landing spots for him.

Casemiro – Manchester United

Manchester United raised plenty of eyebrows when they signed Casemiro from Real Madrid in 2022 and you would be hard-pushed to argue the move has paid dividends.

The midfielder had a decent first season with the club, but injuries and a loss of form severely limited the impact he was able to make last term.

Several SPL clubs have been linked with Casemiro and it would be no surprise to see him plying his trade in the Middle East next season.

Jarrad Branthwaite – Everton

Defensive frailties hindered Man United’s hopes of a top-four finish last season, and they desperately need to address those issues this summer.

Everton centre-back is reportedly their number one target, but an asking price in excess of £70 million is a major obstacle to the transfer.

The 21-year-old is eager to move to Old Trafford, but Everton will likely play hardball over a player they rate extremely highly.

Ivan Toney – Brentford

Arsenal were touted as a potential destination for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, but their supposed interest has failed to come to fruition.

While the 27-year-old fancies moving elsewhere this summer, the silence from clubs he could potentially sign for is deafening.

Toney’s betting ban may well have damaged his reputation in the eyes of other clubs and it will be intriguing to see if he attracts any interest.

Victor Osimhen – Napoli

While several SPL clubs would love to sign Victor Osimhen this summer, he reportedly favours a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have previously been linked with the Nigerian, but Chelsea may have the upper hand in the race.

The 25-year-old has hinted he would be interested in joining Chelsea and their need for a top-class striker could result in them making a move.

Michael Olise – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have several players in their squad who are coveted by other Premier League clubs including Michael Olise.

The former Reading starlet has been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool, while Man United are also in the running to secure his services.

His contract is believed to contain a release clause of around £60m, although Palace may be willing to structure the fee to include performance related add-ons.

Max Kilman – Wolverhampton Wanderers

West Ham United are expected to formally approach Wolves over the potential signing of defender Max Kilman, according to Sky Sports.

Kilman signed a five-year contract with Wolves last summer, but could be enticed by the prospect of linking up with new West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui.

The pair worked together at Molineux, and a sizeable bid from West Ham could give Kilman something to think about over the next few weeks.

Jadon Sancho – Manchester United

Having fallen out of favour with Man United manager Erik ten Hag, a summer move away from the club seems inevitable for Jadon Sancho.

Juventus are eyeing a move for the winger, although the £40m asking price would be extremely problematic for the Serie A Club.

While another loan move for the under-performing winger could be on the cards, Man United would prefer to sell him permanently this summer.

Sammie Szmodics – Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers narrowly avoided defeat from the Championship last season, largely thanks to the goalscoring exploits of Sammie Szmodics.

The attacking midfielder netted 27 goals in 44 league appearances, a tally that has inevitably attracted admiring glances from elsewhere.

Brentford have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old and could swoop for him if Toney exits the club this summer.
